His Soundtrack

Joshua neglected to set the alarm last night and so we started off embarrassingly a little later than normal today. We had also put off working out until this morning so that had to be done before showering and around 10am we were finally ready to begin the day.

Normally I am downstairs immediately headed to work way before Joshua. His morning routine is a little more drawn out and so I normally leave him in my dust. However, this morning I just wasn't feeling it so instead of heading straight to work I sat down at the piano and played around a bit. So while Joshua was ironing, dressing and getting the hair just right he was doing it to a soundtrack of classical music. When he was finished he came in the room and said, "I like this. Almost makes it worth getting up in the morning."

For your viewing Pleasure

Joshua loves this band. And yesterday I came across this on a blog I read.

This is a fan video, not the official video so this guy just made this for the love of creating it. The illustrations remind me of my friend's art so maybe that's why I love it. Or maybe I love it just because of its awesomeness.

You decide.

Those flashing ads that promise you a free TV

Well I read a blog that says those things are legit. Of course not all of them are but this woman makes thousands of dollars a year completing these online offers. It sounds ridiculous right? Feels a little like that woman who fed her family on sweepstakes back in the 50's. I don't even want to try to explain it to you, so you can read all about it at Money Saving Methods.

A friend and I decided last week we are giving it a try. We spent about 4 hours filling out and signing up for stuff online. I am getting trail German language course, some green tea pills, 25 music downloads, some magazines and coffee. Then if I followed all the rules and jumped through all the hoops correctly at the end of it I'll end up with a $500 Visa gift card.

Now if you thought the whole Walgreens/CVS stuff was difficult this stuff will make your head spin. The short story is we created a spreadsheet and are tracking everything we signed up for so we know which items we want to keep and which ones we will send back at the end of the trial period.

So here is the current status: Our first of three tier items have qualified. I have downloaded 3 of my 25 songs and our coffee ships tomorrow. I'll let you know how it progresses.

Also any help on choosing my song downloads would be greatly appreciated: so far its Patty Griffin and Katie Herzig & Matthew Perryman.

Currently Listening To: Into the Wild (ST)

Eddie Vedder - Society

We watched this movie not too long ago, and I loved it. I had a mix of emotions during and after. It invigorated me, made me want to drop everything and head off into the wilderness on an adventure, while at the same time I was really angry and grieved over....well I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it. Let's just say after watching this and having a conversation with my good friend Josh (not Joshua....Josh) I've given thought to the "rules" we each live by, self imposed or otherwise.

The soundtrack is equally great, this song in particular ties in beautifully to the film.

Currently Listening To: visceral music - pt. 1

The Hives - Hate to say I told you so

WARNING: BRACE YOURSELF....AND CRANK THE VOLUME.

After the seriousness of the last post, some head thumping garage punk seems in order. I can't speak to the message of this song......or any others by these guys, but the music definitely stirs something raw, creating the uncontrollable urge to thrash about. As any really good rock song should, right?

Look for more parts to follow. -Josue

Currently listening to: Grizzly Bear

I'm bummed to be missing these guys live at the Mercy Lounge tonight, but since I can't go out and support them I'm doing the next best thing....telling all of you about them. The video is surreal to say the least, I haven't quite figured the connection with the song. If anyone has insights, please share.
